Ahead
Ahead of the game
Mind untamed,
Heart left open
Words left unspoken.
They look and sigh
As I walk by,
The time rushes past
Life was a blast.
Running in the rain,
Hands left in pain
Fingers cracked and grubby
I have to hurry.
The ball forms in my stomach, Hurry.
My mother misses me so much, Hurry.
As my eyes look down,
A tear rolls down,
Because, I am ahead.
They taunt me, the teacher laughing,
I wave, they keep on faffing,
They smile and giggle,
Taunt and swindle,
Although, I know
That I am ahead.

I wrote this piece during one of the more depressing times in my freshman year, when I felt I didn't fit in - was frowned upon and generally disliked.
Luckily my good friends were there to keep me sane and a float, and I feel a much more cheerful creature has emerged from deep within the depths.
