Images
Broken homes
made of silver and gold,
Trapped in the light
from which they are forsaken,
A set path,
An entrenched trail,
for the children
born,
Captured,
Cornered,
Societal clockwork,
They stand,
an encased medallion,
Enclosed by an image,
Broken homes
made of silver and gold,
Trapped in the light
from which they are forsaken,
Their luster lost,
their glass, cracked,
the light,
gone.

This poem is about expectations and how we can easily lose sight of what's important when trying to maintain a perfect "image".
