The girl with the green eyes
Walks down the street
Away from me.
I knew her
But I didn’t see,
The shadows hiding behind
Her eyes,
I didn’t see her smile
Fading.
Didn’t know she was gone
Until I had lost her.
When an artist dies
God paints the skies,
The sunset
Is the color of the dress she wore
When she said goodbye.
Trumpets scream
To disco songs.
She left on 15
At 14
When I was laughing
She was walking away
The girl with the green eyes,
Down the street,
Away from me,
I wish I could have seen.
