Seasons of Us
I’d never stop reciting the ways that you remind me of summer
because your eyes are freckled like my favorite lemonade
from the place you took me on our first date, back in June
when your laugh sounded like wind chimes on a breezy day
It’s fall now, but that’s okay
the leaves littering the sidewalk are the same color as your cheeks the first time I held your hand
laying under the stars, taking advantage of longer nights
I had to make the first move, something for which I’ll tease you forever
without the slightest hint of cruelty behind my smile
Last night, in the middle of winter, we kept each other warm
we layed face to face
whispering white hot secrets like songs until we fell asleep
tangled together- no longer fearing the snow knocking on the window
