Still I Rise
I rise above the corruption around me
And the adversity inflicted upon me
Had a lot of friends that ended up phoney
An a lot of people that doubted me
Yet, still I rise
Always been told to be the best I can be,
Have patience, and lead
I’ve been counted out, I’ve been lied on and misunderstood
Everything that I have gotten or achieved, I had to work for
Through all the blood, sweat, and tears,
I’ve still managed to rise above my circumstances
The devil think he won, but God said it isn’t so
He sent his only begotten son to give us eternal life
And for that I am grateful
And every day, I’m out here trying to be a better person
Maybe, one day I will rise to my destined throne
