A Heavy Cage
I burn to ask the question.
But will it help,
or hurt??I can’t find the void
between the different levels.
I want to ask
shouldn’t it be about how you see your improvement and not how anyone else does?
But…
Does she need comfort,
or counsel?
The bee’s buzz in my head-
carrying the question around like honey,
but my chest feels the thousand stinging needles against it,
as surely she feels it too.
She feels it throughout her body and soul,
crushed under the weight of hopelessness.
My arms ache to reach out,
lift the cage off her.
But I know that she must do it.
If I do it,
it will only fall back down onto her.
She must shed it
like a skin
and release it like a sigh.
I have to trust that she can.
I know she can.
And once she breaks her cage,
we can all be there to help her up.

This is very personal. This was my experience while listening to the struggles of someone who is going through something I can relate to.
