Finding the Light
I am a killer, drenched in blood
My soul is broken, dirty like mud
Hands are scarred from chains and fight
No redemption, no finding light
I am a robber, shrouded in night
Shadows around, out of your sight
Is there a way to make this right?
Can’t see redemption, can’t see the light
I am a cheater, engulfed in lies
My identities all hidden within my eyes
Words are my poison, my venom, my bite
Don’t feel redemption, don’t see the light
I am a heretic, denouncing God
Preaching all evil to those in my squad
My teachings spread like fever, like blight
Won’t find redemption, won’t see the light
I am a prisoner, locked in my cell
Finally the evil one broke and fell
My spirit is gone, floating like a kite
Shouldn’t get redemption, shouldn’t see the light
I am a cellmate, next to the good
Why is he here; outside be he should
The good is praying, teaching God’s might
But I wouldn’t taste redemption, wouldn’t see the light
I am God’s subject, ready to find peace
Follow his path, and my pain will all cease
Coaxing me to come out of the night
Should I seek redemption; should I see the light?
I have now decided to follow the sun
I will stop my fight and my run
Ceasing my evil, do what is right
I will seek redemption; I will see the light

I was inspired to write this piece by some parts of the Bible. In the Bible, Jesus Christ not only preached to the good and righteous, he preached to the wicked as well.
This poem is part of a collection of poems that I hope to publish. They all share the same theme: perfection and flawlessness. This one tells of a wicked man, far from perfect. He is a killer, robber, and heretic. But despite all his flaws, he is still human and can mend his ways.
