"You only hear it now as / A pitiable story of certain silly things / Or a slightly unusual tale." ~Miyazawa Kenji

There's nothing left in this barren wasteland,

this endless sea of dirt and storm,

Nothing other than death and despair

Not a soul in sight,

not a single creature in the pale moonlight,

but I still want to see hope, something impossible in this place,

because in this cascade of black beauty there is nothing but a whole buffet made up of broken dreams and,

Nothing other than death and despair

I don't understand, these voices in my head,

they tell me to look, to look and to search!,

but how can I?, when there's nothing to find,

Nothing other than death and despair

Somebody help me,

why don't they come?, why do they ignore?,

so many questions, so many thoughts, and all the answers?, I think there are none,

Nothing other than death and despair

Is this all that is left for me?,

a life of endless walking, waiting to die?,

waiting for it all just to end?, because I honestly don't care anymore,

because nothing really matters,

Nothing other than death and despair.

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece while suffering through a night of insomnia. It had been an extremely bad day, and the perfect way for me to vent out my feelings was by writing a poem. So I ended up with this piece. It was at a time where I was feeling very alone in the world, as if there was nobody there for me, as if nobody even cared. I just poured all my emotions and feelings that I was feeling at the time into this piece and it may be short, but it is a piece I can say I am proud of. While this piece may be sad and depressing, I hope that after reading it, people that have gona through the same things as I have will be able to connect to this poem. I hope that everybody, in their own way, will be able to connect to the feeling of loneliness that one feels at some point in their lives. And I hope the lesson tey take away from this poem is the following: You are not the only one who feels this way. You are not alone in your fight.
