Rocks can break.
I am a rock.
It is very hard
to break me,
But you can try.
The highest praise
And compliments
Roll off of me like rain.
Snide remarks and
Conscious insults
Bounce off me like hail.
Yet, the softest rain
Can wear me down,
Can soften, even smooth.
Still, the lightest hail
Can leave its marks,
Nicking, fracturing me.
I am a rock.
It is very hard
To change me
But you can try.

I've learned that no matter how hard you try not to let people and their words change you, they still can, for better or worse. The bad things can break you apart, if only in little cracks; the good things can change you, make you a better, kinder person. Iwas inspired to actually write this when I listened to the song "For Good."
