The Fifth Stage of Grief
One Saturday morning
Beginning with smiles and laughs
Comes crashing down with one dark phrase
"She's gone"
And the words echo over again
Too surreal to grasp
Floating around my head
Like dry leaves dancing through the autumn sky
Pain too deep to handle
Tears staining
Endless scary thoughts scream through every silent corner of my mind
Sleepless nights
Hugs, hopes and prayers
Doing whatever to relieve the empty feeling being dug deeper inside
I flash back to this time often
By now three years have gone passed
Tears no longer flow full of sorrow, but of a bittersweet sense of safety
"She's gone"
"She's home"
