Losing Myself in You
Do I miss you? Or do I just miss the idea of us? I miss the most innocent moments. The shared laughs, the innocent but sweet kiss on the cheek, the hugs when I needed them most, the words that I need the most. I lived for you, and in doing so, I lost myself. Don't we always lose a little bit of ourselves though? A relationship takes compromise, but we shouldn't have to constantly compromise our own selves. I loved you, but things have changed now. I feel like I no longer know the face that looks at me, with mean spoken words, and nasty actions, but in doing so, I think I have found myself again. And yet through all the changes, I don't regret one minute of it. Sometimes I need to lose myself in order to find myself again, or maybe we need awful people to remind us of who we are, and who we truly want to be. Sometimes it takes something that extreme to make me awake in shock, that I have forgotten who I really am. It's hard to be yourself and fit in society, so why do we try? Because we want others to resemble ourselves. We want to know that we are not alone in this world.
