YADOT TNEREFFID KOOL UOY
You used to look at me like that
Not too long ago
The way you look at her makes me crumble to nothing inside
You stare at her like she is everything
With your dreamy blue eyes
You study her like a teenage girl studies her reflection in the mirror
What happened to us?
I ask myself everyday
I just don't know
You don't talk to me any more
You don't look at me any more
You don't even try and make me laugh like you always did
I looked over in class to see you and that day I saw a tear run down your cheek
As I looked closer there was a picture in your hand
I then realized it had been there the whole time
You look different today I thought
I smiled at you and for the first time in months you smiled back
You cracked a joke and of course I laughed
The girl next to me gave me a strange look
What are you laughing at she asked
I replied with your name
Her look grew stranger as she repeated your name
She then told me, you died last June
At that moment I realized you weren't staring at someone else
You were staring at your best friend
The girl you spent your life with
The girl you loved
You were staring at the girl in the picture
Me
You look different today I screamed
So do you, you mouthed
That was the last time I saw the real you
After that day I only saw you trapped
Behind glass
A mirror
I saw you everytime I looked at my reflection
But it wasn't the real you
Just your face
I couldn't look in the mirror without shedding tears
Years later I heard your voice once again
You look different today
I knew everything would be okay
I knew I could be with you
The real you
Who stares at me for hours and never lets me go
But it would never be
For you were the boy in the mirror and i became the girl in the picture
Both
Trapped
