Plastic
Wearing those, you stand on a skyscraper
Painful heels, yet with confidence you strut.
Elegance you try to convince yourself with,
Yet behind that tainted glass you hide
Yourself with your insecurities.
They make you, they break you, they tear you apart.
Thick, pink and white, a new layer of skin you paint your face with.
Layer by layer like a cake, you think he’ld think it’ll look sweet.
Drowning and sucking the life out of it.
A doll with a fixed smile.
Beautifying your body, adorning it with Silver and Gold.
Yet you do not see the light crown upon your head already glorifying you,
trying to lift you out of it.
You sit on your throne, again weighed down by the precious things you so desire.
Yet,
They make you, they break you, they tear you apart.
Coloring, dyeing, you bleach your hair,
Only that it might hide the years.
Why do you not see, that they actually drink from your fountain of youth, drying it up.
Yes,
They make you, they break you, they tear you apart.
Look into the mirror, put them aside.
Look at the beauty and vitality inside.
Let them not destroy you, leave them behind.
A doll you shall no longer be.

The world has an ever changing concept of beauty and materialism. We should not succumb to it. We need to embrace who we are because beauty should be natural. It is also important to note that materialism is not bliss.
