And when he told me he loved me it was different than all the other times he had mumbled it through fits of laughter or after I made a witty comment.  He said it and he was glowing in the dark.  The colors he emitted from his lungs were light enough to flood the entire city in a blackout.  There were stars in his words, and his lips curved upwards as the most perfect arrangement of letters tumbled out of his mouth.  I scrambled to pick up the words as he was letting them fall into the hanging air around us. I repeat the moment over and over again in my head, from he way his hands shook before he spoke, to the way his eyes shined with relief and gratitude when I threw the same words back at him.  We soon were in a game of tennis where words were flying at breakneck speed between us two sides of the court.  It was hard to keep up, but I just kept saying it and saying it and saying it because there were finally ears to recognize the vibrations of my sound waves this time.  My words were not on a piece of paper or lost in cyberspace this time.  My words were zooming down neural pathways in his brain as he tried repeatedly to analyze what I was saying.  This was it, I thought to myself.  It's finally happening.  My body was the most alive it's ever been in my sixteen years on this earth.  There were caterpillars transforming into butterflies and escaping their cocoons inside my stomach, a stampeding herd of horses with hooves pounding in my chest, bees buzzing loudly in my ears.  There was a whole f***ing zoo housed in my tiny frame.  I was transparent too.  I had finally let someone see who I was underneath all the black eyeliner, and happy-go-lucky exterior and It was more than I could have ever hoped for.
