Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
Today was tempest.
Purple storms mob the pavement
Girl inhales, breathes a little more air through the cylinder of her body.
Yesterday was comedy.
Sticky like ice cream and rose stained glasses,
the kind of air that laps at girl's lips till she gives it a kiss,
yesterday taught girl how to kiss.
The kind of kisses that make her forget tempests and tragedies.
Tomorrow will be tragedy.
Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow comes in swinging like swords,
Tomorrow makes girl go into the woods to have a cigarette,
Tomorrow makes girl forget everything but the feeling of hurting herself.
Girl is not a fighter.
She knows strength like listen,
Like talk,
Like lick your wounds tonight and look up from the pavement tomorrow,
Like finally sleeping when she should have gone to bed hours ago.
Girl knows tempests and comedies and tragedies
And the way the days blend together,
Girl knows how to take care of herself.
Girl knows.
Today was a tempest
