The Poem
Take me downtown,
To a place where bands play.
Where we go get down,
and don’t have to leave until it’s day.
Where it’s just you and me,
we go looking the way we want to.
Let’s go and see,
all you gotta do is be you.
Don’t be afraid,
We’ll sing until our voices fade away.
It’s like a game at an arcade,
let’s go play.
Our smiles shine so bright,
You can forget about this in the morning.
Let’s fade into the night,
if you don’t wanna go just give me a simple warning.
Let’s just have fun,
Just come along.
We live our lives like we’re on the run,
Life isn’t a song.
We can’t replay it,
I just don’t know where I went wrong.
You just quit,
I feel like I lost you.
It was a game I played,
But, what if I never had you,
And I gave you the blade,
You won this stupid game.
I knew it was a risky thing to do,
You said all those things.
But, all I ever wanted was you.
