Upward Roots
The darkness folding over,
becoming stuck inside.
Follow the ends of the ties
find the thick,
strong roots,
feel and remember all the indents,
and reason for making.
Night changing to day,
cold hands heat up by the fire
growing from seed to stump
Branching from,
the tree,
never falling.
Keeping shelter,
food and water,
all of what's needed
Provided for you,
here,
in the tree.
New branches cannot survive alone,
roots will keep it up,
keep it from wilting
Always there,
to keep in place.
Night is not forever,
Sun will come,
Feeding the tree.
Rain will come,
not always dark,
giving nutrients to the tree,
growing,
Stronger.
