A Walk
Four shoes, all the same size
Leave the house in confident strides
They meet icy sidewalks
But hang on and don't slip
Laughter fills the air
Disrupting the winter chill with warmth
It rings through the empty space
Where trees used to be
Window shopping and wandering
Takes us into a store
I smell a house in a different state
I'm surrounded by organic food and cutesy crafty things
You buy salted chocolate something
Which sounds gross to me
You bought me a box of matches
(I still owe you three dollars)
"Good things are to come"
Says the quote on the matchbox
I think that it's true
And I think they'll be with you
