Sucess Cycle
We’re born safe and small
Admire those who stand tall
View the world through crib bars
Bury in our hearts, wishes of fulfilled dreams
A child dances
Praises are received
They call her cute
Good enough for the world to eat
A preteen sings
His talent is received
They clap a bit
Then question what he wants to be
A teenager draws
Only the art teacher pays her mind
They commend her quest
But question if it’ll pay bills
A college student studies
Along with 30,000 other minds
They work in robotic harmony
With adults as their commanding lead
A parent comes home
Body aches from long days
He praises A’s and B’s
And disapproves of far-fetched dreams
We walk on safe and small
Envy those who stand tall
View the world through window bars
Bury in backyards, Pandora boxes of dreams

I often hear about miserable adults who chased after safe or high-paying careers and left their dreams behind. Many different factors can cause this, but I focused on parents who won't allow their children the freedom to follow their own dreams. I wish for those children to break away from that and reach out for their hopes and aspirations before it’s too late.
