bus ride
May 28, 2015
a weary walk to the stop
slow steps up the stairs
I find my seat
the other students have their heads back
and their eyes closed
throughout the ride
headphones grow from their ears like vines
streaks of water flow down the window
the gray skies protect the earth
from the sun’s rays of light
it is peaceful
the trees travel in the opposite direction
we come to a slow stop
the double doors fly open
time to face reality
