Keep Me Awake
Keep Me Awake.
The hard, tender floor fights
me, sending my body into the music.
Pressing my stiff spin into the ground-cold.
Closing my eyes only
for a moment,
before I wake.
Keeping me awake,
reminds me of being a child fighting,
moments.
Cherishing the sweet lullaby music.
But that was only
when children would cradle to keep from the cold.
The air no longer feels cold.
Stillness keeps me from awakening.
It only
makes me fight,
Into the rhythm of the music.
For this moment.
Moments,
pass by the cold
beat, that the music
Electrifies. The wake
That fights
Itself. For just then only.
For then only,
We are like children fighting
On a cold
morning, not yet ready to awake.
And right in our ears-- music.
Music,
that is all I hear, only.
Crisp awakening,
my body in this moment.
You know when the air turns cold?
And its only then, when it’s the air you fight.
Fight me like the music does,
Cold and honest, it’s all I feel.
And only in this moment, I wake.
