Ladder
We all know what a ladder is in a literal sense
Two sticks holding more as rungs going up and up and up.
We think about this like a random object that helped us get to something in a higher place.
But I’m here to look at it in a metaphorical sense
Right now everyone here has either been in school or is in school.
The ladder is a symbol
It’s a symbol of popularity
We all.. without realizing it are on this ladder.
It goes from the top most Popular, Rich people to the kids who don’t have as much as everyone.
Now yes I know what you’re thinking.
We don’t have that here.
Im sorry teachers, but this ladder is everywhere.
In a job
In a relationship and most of all...In a school.
Now I know I’m on this ladder
I’ve been reminded every day of my life where I am on this ladder
Not quite at the bottom but close
And that’s really bad, Not where I stand but that Im there at all
And I know I’ve been called things
Weird
Annoying
Ugly
Unwantable
These things have even been said to my face
And the people who say it think there slik
But I hear them
I hear it said just as I pass
And most of these kids are above me on this ladder
What I don’t understand is who chooses this order
Who gets to say who is at the top and who is not
Why can’t anybody be any where?
How come we all are conformed to the rules of the masses
If you ask me I think this ladder needs to be destroyed
For if we destroy this symbol, this… system of popularity we have nothing to fear
Nothing that separates one from the other
All the same
All equal
But who would do that?
The people at the bottom are too scared
The people in the middle don’t care
The people at the top will never let it happen
What would you do?
Would you be on of the soldiers defending the precious ladder from the people trying to make a difference
Or would you join the rebellion
