The Earthquake of My Life
I am the result of one couple having a few too many Coor’s light,
the unnoticed ghost
A middle child unable to be seen
In the shadow of my brother’s genius-
his 3.8 to my 2.6
I am that letter regretting to inform you won't be accepted to college.
A young man forced to grow up too fast,
stress piled so high with nowhere to go, nobody to listen.
I am becoming an earthquake, ready to wreak havoc,
barely containing the anger built up,
A worried soul with too much on my mind,
from hours of homework
to working 45 hours between two jobs
to the problems that tag along day after day
to the future disappointments to come.
I am a man with a future as bright as a 1 watt light bulb
I am someone who made a few wrong decisions
A hard worker moving up from dishroom worker
into the kitchen then a manager all to fast.
I am the turning point
Creating a brighter future at the age of 17
The one person of all my friends beginning to mature,
choosing to make better decisions to provide for a future family.
I am me.
