Mutilation
White walls are clean-
like the smell of Clorox Bleach
used to scrub those walls.
Scrub
until all the mistakes
are replaced with a new face.
I scrub
and scrub
until the skin starts to bubble
and burn
as the Sodium Hypochlorite leaves
a trail of bloody blisters
and exposed nerves
in its wake.
but people are not like
white walls.
No matter how hard I scrub,
your mistakes
never
go away.
