i am a hotel

i am a hotel
you stayed for a while
and left
i knew you would
people always do
i am no more
than a pit stop
for travelers moving on
to home
and better things
my memories
are no more than
a series of windows
into others' lives
but i am glad that your window
came into my view
and that i could be your home
for a little while.
