Lost Battle to Cancer
Lights
Bright shining lights
The vibrant blues and reds
flashing in the dark
I had just been awaken
set in the car
Late in the cloudy night
Perplexed, pondering, petrified
I’d never seen my dad cry
My mom grasping him
As the gurney with the white blanket over it
Was rolled by
A faded body lying beneath
It then dawned on me
My world as I knew it was coming to a crashing halt
