Blossom

Rivers of ruby ice flowed out from his ribs
And into my cupped hands.
I sewed him back together with my honey-sweet words,
But his acidic tongue tarnished my confidence.
I tried icing my wounds with more pain,
And that wore me down to my core.
But then I stumbled into the arms of a friend,
A gentleman who gladly carried my aching bones.
His innocent curiosity tickled my heart,
And his pure and genuine love mended me.

I was abused in a relationship and it influenced me more than I expected it would. I met a new person who has helped me to overcome my emotional pain, and I was inspired to compose this simple poem expressing years of depression and a progression of recovery.
