The Golden GIrl
The air is heavy,
The sun doesn’t shine,
Tumbleweeds roll on through,
The shadow of my mind.
It’s dark for me,
I can’t see you,
The sunshine of my life,
You’ve been taken from me.
I miss you dearly,
The object I cannot have,
The object of my desire,
The object of my love.
I am happy for you,
And yet I hate you,
The one I saw in my dreams,
Now only fills my nightmares.
What haunts me most,
Is the opportunity I missed,
It was given,
Yet not taken.
I plead,
“Come back.”
Yet all you say is,
“I can’t.”
When I see you,
The clouds depart,
And once you are gone,
The rain falls.
I try to be happy,
Do what used to fill my heart with delight,
Quoth the Raven,
“Nevermore.”
I have come to accept,
What may never be,
I pray unto God,
That it shall be.
I wish to be the shoulder for you to cry,
And yet so much more,
You have all of that now,
And I am none of it.
It pains my heart to declare,
“I love you.”
Yet it aches forever more,
To know it can’t be.
The pain diminishes when it is just you,
And the relief is immediate,
Yet when you are together,
It is insufferable.
I am sorry for myself,
Yet it does not matter,
Even If you don’t,
I will love you forever.
I beg you to notice me,
Notice my love,
For even if you don’t,
It will remain.
To the golden girl,
Who allows the sun to shine,
I love you,
And always shall.
Quoth the raven is from “The Raven” By Edgar Allen Poe
