Thoughts of Distance
Distance
Is it real or fake-
Physical or mental.
It's like a tether we can reach out to and pull on in our darkest of moments,
but then throw it back into the oblivion of suppression against anger and sadness and all of the above.
Distance is like a beast slowly ripping us apart from bit to bit, to all the scattered pieces.
But can others see it?
The distance of not a place, but of a thought,
This distance within ourselves-
From ourselves.
And the borders we put up not meant to keep others out,
but rather, to keep ourselves in.
And if you pull on that tether just a little bit, it will give.
Braided of a tiny string a strong rope will give to you.
Yet if you tie it into a circle then it will take all away from you.
For the distance we place upon ourselves and within ourselves is the rope.
All you have to do is notice-
And then we fall,
Like the ashes of forgotten memories.
