Roaring 20's
The flappers, exposing their legs & smoking on cigarettes
The movie star women, the blondes and brunettes
Their blinding red heels and matching lipstick
The bob haircuts the women all mimicked.
The lights blanket the cities,
The starlights who dance with each other were the infinite lovers.
You'd theorize they loved each other like no other
At nighttime your face would light up.
The constant toasting of champagne cups
But how the music made the people smile!
The music could save one's soul
You'd teach your sweetheart how to dance real slow
You'd both kick off your shoes
Falling in love to the Jazz and Blues
Oh but you can't escape the music here,
It's played on the corner of everywhere
But how dare we live this life to the fullest? If we wait until we're ready, we'll be waiting for the rest of our lives
It was the best of times,
every road that led to heaven was right inside you
It was the worst of times,
The thin line between the rich & poor,
The men who never came back from war.
But what I loved the most, the city had so much soul
