Fallen Angel
I watch you writhe in pain
and ache in loss and sorrow.
I shed a tear for I know
that you won’t be here tomorrow.
You dance that blade across your skin,
as you heed no shame as you commit the sin.
Why are you doing this?
I ask you.
I need you here with me.
But you pay no attention as you
create your art so effortlessly.
You put up your cold front,
hide it behind your smiling face,
and everytime I see that smile,
it makes my heart race,
but not in a good way.
I become frightened,
I never know what to expect,
as I try to talk you down
with our broken dialect.
Please don’t leave me
I beg and plead over the phone.
I can’t stay here
you say in monotone.
I weep and scream your name
in the echoing silence,
as I hear the line go dead,
another angel has fallen.
