Ambition
What is a bird
To us?
Fly? We can too –
As high!
What can keep us
From rightful reign?
Down, down we spin,
To peril from our sin.
We be not free
As they.
Our flesh: pierced.
Burning.
In respose to
Our ambition,
No absolution.
Instead, loss.
If we be not
Supreme,
What is life
To us?
So as Icarus went,
We follow.
