Today Could Be Too Late
Child, they told you that you were hopeless
That you were not here for a reason
That you should disappear
That you should just go away
And finally you told this to yourself
Child, you gave me the strength to do what I could not do on my own
You gave me the strength to fight back
The courage to go on
The strength to love when others showed hate
The strength to care when no one else did
The strength to be me
But it is too late now
Because I held back
I held back because I thought I knew what you were going through
I thought that you were strong enough
I thought that you would last another day
Don’t hold back
Because you could make the difference when nobody else will
You could be the difference between life and death
I thought yesterday was too early
But today was too late
Today, it is too late to save you
Today, my words only matter to those who hear them
Today, you hear no more
Today, I stand before you all to say
Don’t hold back
Because today could be too late
