The day is here
Its time to say goodbye
To leave all the ones I love

The day is here
I’m boarding a plane
Flying away from my home
Serving my purpose

The day is here
Training starts
10 hours a day
Rain or snow we never stop
We are here for a reason

The day is here
All I want is to go home
See my family
See my friends

The day is here
I’ve been serving for 1 year
Getting restationed
The places I’ve been
The things I’ve seen

The day is here
It’s time to leave
I board the plane
A 14 hour flight

The day is here
The plane seems like it is taking a million years
I can’t wait to see their faces
Hear their voices
be with my family once again

The day is here
No one knows I’m home
I get off the plane and start driving back

The day is here
I’m home at last

I was inspired to write this poem by veterans and what they go through.
