Consequence
Maybe that’s why he did it.
Because people didn’t laugh.
Because people didn’t smile.
And he was just a face in the crowd.
He learned no one listened.
In a moment of weakness
He did it.
His emotions took over and
He was alone.
Alone in a dark world.
There was only silence and he was
Debating whether it was worth it.
He was
Talking to himself
In his room, grinning without sincerity,
Filling his thoughts with lies
And his demons whispered in his ears -
Tales of deception
Monotony
Stories of
Fear
But he had no reason to
do it.
Just
Take a chance.
He was so happy on his own.
They whispered in their black garb
What happened?
They left roses.
Left cards -
The people who cried
And never knew that
He regretted it.
Starting with the final line, begin to read the poem back up. As in, "He regretted it/He never knew that/The people who cried/left cards" etc.

I wanted to try out a different format, inspired by a poem I found a while ago.
