Well Daddy, this is the day.
On this very day, your heart stopped.
On this very day, you rose up to heaven.
On this very day, your wife had to say goodbye to her husband.
On this very day, your daughter had to say goodbye to her father.
On this very day, both of their lives would take a new turn.
But…
I believe that you rose to a better place, and you can see everything
From up there, in heaven.
You saw the accomplishments I’ve made when no one was looking.
You saw the moments when I broke down and thought I couldn’t get up.
You saw the many moments when my mom was suffering,
And I couldn’t help her.
You saw everything that happened in our lives,
When we thought no one was looking.
Well, we were wrong. You were always there.
You ARE always there.
In our hearts,
In our everyday lives,
In our little forever we like to call a lifetime.
You are always there.
I know you aren’t physically here.
I know you won’t be there to give me away on my wedding day.
I know you won’t be there on my graduation of high school.
I know you won’t be able to hold my children when they are born.
But yet,
I want no sympathy.
What happened in the past has happened, and no one can change it.
God has a plan for my mom, everyone, and myself.
Everything happens for a reason,
And this reason, I have to still figure out.
