The Color Purple

April 21, 2015
By Anonymous

Some see purple as the wizard's hat,

wize and kind as any you meet.

Some see purple as the lilac,

soft and gental in the spring.

Some see purple as the ribbon,

on the young, dancing girls feet.

-Not Me Though_

I see purple as the bruises

you tattoed on my skin.

I see purple as the color of your shirt,

as you tore off mine.

I see purple as the nailpolish on my fingers,

clawing away from your sin.

I see the color purple as my monster

-and foe.-

The author's comments:

This is the first poem I have ever written on my own (meaning it wasn't an assignment for school). Every word has so much meaning behind it, though you might not be able to understand all of it. I wrote it to deal with the thoughts and anger I had as a victim of rape. The fact that it is my first poem I have ever written, I would greatly appreciate any thoughts/comments about it (good or bad!). I would also like to hear any advice on how to improve both this peice, and as a writer. Thanks for reading :) keep bleeding ink.
