Why I'm Here
There is no solace
in writing down
what I see
in front of me.
Yes, it is
a summer day,
but how does that
help your day?
I’m not here
to write things down
that mean
nothing already foreseen.
I’m here
to make a difference---
to do something
that extends my existence.
Because I’m only here
for a short while.
People before and after-
that are now with Casper-
have been in this spot.
So no, I do not
care about the coconut
floating past my luxurious hut.
I care
that at the end,
my life outlasts time---
the world’s oldest crime.
