It was a chilly autumn morning
The field was wet with morning dew.
The boy was ready to play,
He stepped on the field
His head held high.
The whistle blew
And he took off
They passed the ball back to the keeper
But the boy was fast like a cat.
The next thing he knew,
It was just him, the ball
And the giant keeper.
They both collided
The boy was down holding his leg
He had never been in such pain
He was rushed to the hospital
The boy waited and waited
Hoping for good news,
But he only got bad
Doctors said it was broken and surgery was needed….

Months pass
But the boy only got stronger
He trained everyday
Then the time came
High school soccer.
He knew competition was harder
The first game came
He stepped on the field
With his head held high
The whistle blew
And he took off.
The rest was history
