Mother Mountain

The first light of day smiles as it breaks through her peaks.
Shining on the choir of birds praising her
Her crisp, chill breath keeps one yearning for more
While icy streams race down her face like tears of joy
And dew rest upon her wild roses
Her valleys dip with ease
While her peaks reach out to grasp the stars that light up the night
Every stone, shrub, tree and animal seem at peace
As they all respect and admire her beauty

Yet humans take advantage of her
Cutting down her trees
Killing her animals as trophies
Poisoning her with trash

Stop hurting Mother Mountain
Before she hurts you

A week in the wilderness of Colorado inspired me.
