The Ticking
Tick tock tick tock
The clock ticks in my head
For every waking moment
That I lie in my bed
Maybe I’m just tired
There is no clock around
Sleep is all I need
But there’s that ticking sound
Tick tock tick tock
I hear the clock all night
Another school day is approaching
Filling me up with fright
The ticking is intense
I hear it calling my name
I feel it creeping up on me
But serenity is my aim
Tick tock tick tock
I feel it’s getting late
My eyes are still wide open
It’s close to the changing date
I feel it getting closer
It irritates and haunts
School is around the corner
But silence is all I want
Tick tock tick tock
I hear the screeching of the chalk
School is the main threat
Not the ticking of the clock

I wrote this poem to state the hardship of waking up way too early for school. This poem depicts a student having to sleep and worry about not getting enough of it and school work. Life of a middle school student can be hard sometimes especially when stressed and tired.
