Self Worth
They tell you to change.
You’re ugly, you’re dumb,
you don’t matter.
But you do.
you matter to someone
friends, family
you do matter.
Waves of criticism pound you
down down down
until you’re nothing
nothing to them, nothing to yourself.
They try to conform you
but that isn’t who you are
you are you, not your friend
not the cliche that is society
and the way it views their own.
Like a star, you shine in the dark,
you are not condemned to conformity,
you are subject to yourself
and no one else.
Put down your razors
accept who you are,
know you are brilliant,
a shining bright star.
So find yourself
keep yourself
love yourself
because no matter how much
they want you to fall,
you can fly to great heights
because you matter.
