Tribute: Singapore's Father
Singapore
Former British Colony
Like the Phoenix
Rises from the Ashes
Patiently seeking self-rule for Singapore,
we strived for social reformation,
through failure and challenges
we paved a clear road to success,
under the guidance of our father.
Capitalism reins supreme
in glass walled commercial buildings
over looking the bustling city.
Once a small town, now a global financial hub
for our father rejected Communism. ?
Our international image - the Garden City,
cascading waterfalls in the city centre,
city squares overflowing with red, burgundy and violet bougainvillea,
green walls, rooftop gardens bursting with fragrance,
a legacy of our father that will forever remain.
Lee Kuan Yew,
a man known for his revolutionary ideas
honored by many global leaders
loved by Singaporeans
forever remembered.
