Rejoice
The world has evolved with hate,
I think tonight we’ll celebrate.
We’ll touch our glasses and rejoice-
But tonight not eating is someone’s choice.
These children used to play with dolls,
They’re written “help me” on the walls.
It seems to me that we don’t hear
The constant screams and endless tears.
Perhaps these smiles tell a lie,
No one knows he’s getting high.
I told you once, I told you twice.
These scars and bruises aren’t nice.
She drowned the girl she used to be,
The price of a life is nothing free.
Won’t you please just understand?
Society has such a high demand.
I’ve looked in the mirror for the tenth time.
What if hating yourself was a crime?
Imagine all the locked up souls,
Reaching for a hand to hold.
I think its time for us to portray
That everything ends up okay.
Instead of wrists, let’s cut the hate.
I think tonight we’ll celebrate.
We’ll touch our glasses and rejoice,
Darling there’s another choice.

I wrote this piece to show the different struggles teenagers in our generation may be going through and to give a different point of view on each situation. I went through a tough time and I want other people to understand that things eventually get better, maybe not today or tomorrow, but eventually.
