Gray and wrinkled, sprinkled with dust, but I must not rust.*
Age as I will, I cannot remain still, I must travel uphill so I don’t end up on a grill.
You judge me cause I’m fat, well here’s what I have to say to that, when the poachers come I’ll combat, while you go scat.
The coward is the one who will be devoured, the strong are the one’s who will live lifelong.
So call me what you want, your taunts are small in the mind of my all.
While my eyes are not strong, my nose is very long and will throng you with the sound of a gong.
My brain is the center, I need no mentor, to teach me right from wrong.
I cannot forget, but that’s no sweat, I know that I can’t touch a cigarette.
I live in a herd, but that’s not absurd, the predators will remain deterred.
We eat bamboo, so we don’t catch the flu, and we chew so we don’t overdo and sneeze with a loud “wahoo”.
But my legacy ends, if you don’t defend me and my buddies from the bullies who seek us, we must ascend and adjust to the life with strife in the bliss of the elephant heaven.
So forthwith, my friends, you must learn to defend and amend the damage that must end before we will not live, we’ll combust.**
