Mentioning Jericho
Well our family of five lived comfortably by the sea
Our lives and love glimmered, glowed in glee
We always found reason to smile
Problems never in miles
But cold winds blow
to mention
Jericho
My brother told me once of Jericho in a long tale
Jericho will take you to the voids vile vale
He’s a giant monstrous beast
and you are his feast
as cold winds blow
never mention
Jericho
My sister warned me by the fireplace light
never pray or prance at Jericho’s plight
He takes more than soul and mind
Memory of you, no one can find
Still cold winds blow
at mention of
Jericho
One day in the night as cold winds hit our home like a horse
Doors slammed and banged at the wind’s fearless full force
My brother called out a cry of fear and alarm
and now I fail to recall his charm
The cold winds blow
as we know
Jericho
The winds returned to our family of four disguised as a breeze
We hid in skillful silence as I suppressed a sneeze
My sister though, had run out of luck
To memory, her face now muck
Cursing cold wind’s blow
as I screamed
Jericho
The three of us look up from the porch with surprise and dread
Jericho and the wind come in a despised dance of the dead
My Mother, too slow, could only cry and scream
Now her love is gone like steam
I cry as cold winds blow
as I moaned
Jericho
Just two now guard the halls in fear within this hollow house
yet, we heard mother’s musings, though small like a mouse
Enraged by the fake my father ran to fight
Now he’s lost forever in night
The colds winds blow
as I’m stuck with
Jericho
I fight with all my might in fright but I still end up broken and bloodied as I fall to the floor
Jericho laughs as he dangerously drags me through the front door
Despair sets in as I cry at this atrocious felony
Who now will remember our melody?
When the cold winds blow
I know it will only be
Jericho
