&quot; We loved with a love that was more than love&quot; <br /> -Edgar Allan Poe

I woke up in a daze

the world was spinning

Everything upside down

twirled into knots

Pumping blood so loud

heartbeats crashing

Falling apart piece by piece

the sun continues shining

Stopping to pick them up

trying to catch the rays

Life in the shadow of doubt

getting lost in the fray

Crowds surge around me

unknown faces, unknown names

My questions left unasked

the terror overcomes

Choking the life from me

never to say a word

The past is the past

as they say

Mine blends with the present

fear of discovery

Loneliness consumes me

silence builds no understanding

They all try to help

no true words can escape

Cacaphony inside

bright and loud behind my eyes

Overexposure and heartache

alone I must bear

For my story is secret

and I cannot share.
