A Satisfying Mistake
Tic. Toc. Tic. Toc.
The mysteriously loud clatter
of a pendulum and gears.
Ageless. Everlasting. Aggravating.
What is to be done with the invincible?
For one can never stop
the intangible on its interminable trail.
Tic. Toc. Tic. Toc.
The mischievously subtle padding
of socks on a midnight escapade.
Curious. Determined. Quiet.
How to count the many feet that have passed it by?
Only one set of toes matters in its game of tag,
its delayed decision and skidding turn.
In one instant the impossible will happen.
Silence.
The mysteriously loud stillness
of a shattered heirloom.
Shock. Apprehension. Shambles.
