Why, Do I bully you?
Because I am tired of being an outcast
not fitting in
but fitting so perfectly
purposely
put here
to put fear in the eyes of
hundreds of kids
i’m a cliche
a classic character in every high school sitcom i am Biff, Bowser, Billy
and all these other kids gone wrong
“cause every school has there bullies”
and if the shoes fits
have it tied onto your foot
cause you mistook
me for a bully
but these lockers were begging
to get shoved into

Why you?
Because administrators can’t hear the
Underneath the crack
Of every punch I throw
I smack you down because
We both know
I’m too afraid to ask you to carry some of the burden that is put on me at home
So I force it upon you
conducting the same anger
that was beaten into me
Unfortunately, it does work that way
Why, Do I bully you?
Because i am tired
of seeing through the eyes of the powerless
Its become more than
“christ, he struck the child”
because, “sir. your child struck another child”

Monkey see
monkey do
then monkey suffers the consequences of his father’s actions
papa monkey is in jail
papa left nothing behind
but a pale
young boy
failing to find any color in his skin
besides black...and blue
Because
I have been cursed with these
Hereditary anger management issues
Forced to constantly see myself as both sides of the monstrous man towering over a helpless child
It helps inside
to know i’m not the only one
getting welts and black-eyes
Because
I’m trapped
trapped inside this label
letters wrapped around my body like chains
holding back my motions
and bridling my brain
just trying to explain
that i’m required to abstain
from even trying to be anything but
bully

This poem is incredibly personal for me.  My experiences with mental abuse have given me immense insight into why bullying occurs.  I am publishing my poem because I want my analysis to be shared with the world.  I believe these words can help another person being bullied understanding what is happening, and they can work with the bully to get to the root of the abuse.  God bless.
