My mommy said that I could go to a friend’s house today.
This made my daddy mad.
He’s always mad.
But that’s okay
because
this is going to be the bestest day.

six

She doesn’t like it when they fight,
her eyes start to water.
Not making a sound
because
if she was heard…

five

The noise she makes are smothered
by the wails of her father.
She grabs her princess pink bag and runs out the door--
unnoticed.

four

Her shoes--
flash
with every step she takes

three

Stopping--
to grasp Breath

two

The squeal
of tires

one

Woman suffocated by her husband and her daughter killed in a hit and run

This is a beautiful poem. The structure is very unique, I especially liked the cold and sudden ending (really adds perspective to the headlines found in newspapers). Overall, I really love it!
